Okay, everyone. Gather around the fireplace. Cuddle up with your blankets and pillows. Be sure to hold on to your favorite stuffed animal to comfort you. Tonight, Kristen is going to share with you the horror story that is (long dramatic pause, then flashlight illuminating face from bottom) “The Dinner” *dun dun duuuuuuu*
Once upon a time, Kristen and Taylor were having a really fun day. They had gone to a religious gathering with their friends, the Fagg family. They had spent a marvelous morning with them before returning to the hotel. After a short break, Kristen and Taylor journeyed back out into the land of Beijing. There they met a nice agent to help them find an apartment. Their friend Nayyir tagged along. A long journey later, the three Americans and the Chinese agent checked out an apartment right outside the busy area of Chong Wen Men. It was nice, but they did not fall in love with it.
As they left the apartment, Kristen, Taylor, and Nayyir decided they were hungry. A brilliant idea formed! They would go into the mall they had passed earlier to find sustenance. The three had great difficulty communicating with the cashier, but finally managed to order a meal to share. During the meal, conversation was booming. They enjoyed each other’s company and the meal. As they finished, Kristen and Taylor glanced up at the wall behind the counter and THAT’S when IT occurred. Nayyir could see his friends’ faces turn horrified as the two girls shared a look.
“Did you see that?” The question tumbled numbly from Kristen’s mouth. Taylor nodded. “Was that a rat?” Kristen asked in stunned surprise. And it was true. The two young women had been petrified by the sight of a great, big, brown rat climbing down a pipe from the ceiling to the floor right behind the counter (in the cooking area) of the restaurant they had just ordered from. Astonished and disgusted, the three left the restaurant and mall quickly.
Now the ending to this story is in the form of a question. Did Kristen actually eat food tainted by the presence of rats? You will have to wait to find out.
