Training and Hunting

I am so tired yet again. It has been a super long day and all I want to do is curl up under my covers and go to sleep. Therefore, today’s post will be extremely short.

So today was our first “on boarding” or training day. We started with a medical examination, which I didn’t have to do because I had all the right paperwork from my one in the states. Then we went to one of the EF schools for training. We learned about EF’s history, what’s expected of us as teachers, common difficulties Chinese English-learners have, and how to communicate with others when there are difficulties. A lot of it was lecture, but we also played games, which helped to engage us and gave us tips for what to do with our students.

Afterwards, Taylor and I went to go look at some other apartments. We met up with one of my agents, Samvia, and looked at two apartments. The first was in Chong Wen Men (where we were yesterday). It was above our budget and disgusting. There were literally cockroaches! She said she only showed us this because she wanted us to see what we could get in our price range in that area. But we saw one literally like a block away yesterday that was cheaper and much nicer. The next one we saw was in Song Jia Zhuang. It was at the very top of our budget and was a good size. One of the rooms was really small, though, and the electricity had been turned off, so we couldn’t really see anything. Overall, not much luck. She had more to show us, but it got too late. Hopefully we’ll see some more soon. Here are some pictures if you want to see what apartments in China look like (this is the bad one with bugs. The pictures don’t do it justice, so you can see why adds in the classifieds or that agents send can be deceiving).

Words to remember: Habakkuk 3:1-6
Challenge: Look at how Abba interacted with His Chosen people. How do you feel about asking Him to “do among us what [He] did among them”? Ask Him to help you discover more about Him in the coming days.

Good night!
Bless,
Kristen
