Striving For Normal

Hello everyone!

It was so nice today to go to work and know that I had an apartment to come home to. It wasn’t like I thought I was going to be thrown out on the streets, but I definitely felt safer today than I have the past two days. There’s still stuff that needs to get sorted out, like registering at the police station and extending our visas, but we’re working on all of that. I’m starting to feel confident in my surroundings again.

Today was nice. I spent the morning talking to Mom and Cathy. Cathy is an old family friend who lives in Beijing with her family and we spent the morning talking about me giving tap lessons to her oldest daughter, Jeannie. I’m excited to put tap shoes back on! Because they live so far away (2 hours by train and they live in Beijing!), though, it’ll only be once or twice a month. I spent a while this morning looking for tap shoes online.

Also, living in this apartment kinda feels like I’m back in my college dorm. I mean, it’s definitely my own apartment, but right now I don’t have any cooking equipment or necessary items for adequate “adulting.” Also, Taylor’s room is freezing, so she’s been spending a lot of time in my apartment. And Brian actually had to come get ready in here this morning because maintenance guys were working on the plumbing in his bathroom. It certainly doesn’t feel like I’m alone, which I’m extremely grateful for.

Work today was fun. We had to be there by 1:00 for a Teacher’s Meeting, during which we welcomed a new teacher to BJ12. Yep, a new group of teachers just arrived on Wednesday. Our new teacher’s name is Laranda and we won’t be seeing her again for another week and a half. By that time Brian and I will have our own classes, and maybe we’ll know what we’re doing. Speaking of my own classes, tomorrow I’m opening another new class! I’m excited and a bit nervous. Hopefully I’ll be able teach well and effectively.

Words to Remember: Romans 8:31-39
Challenge: Read this passage a couple times, mulling the words over and over. Look at how much Abba loves you! While our minds may understand this love, our bodies and souls may take a bit more prodding. Set a timer for one minute. During that minute, repeat “I am loved by G-d.” Thank Him for loving you.

Bless,
Kristen

P.S. Daddy, look what I found!img_6510 For those who don’t know, lemon Fanta is not available in the U.S. It’s a bit of a family (or at least my dad’s and my) joke to keep a lookout for it when we travel overseas and then send a picture or something to each other.
