Beijing, China
So as you all know, my parents planned a trip to come visit me. Well, guess what! They’re here! Their plane arrived yesterday afternoon and I was able to meet them at the airport. I wasn’t the only one, though. You see, part of the trip we’re taking is a journey with the organization “Bibles for China.” There’s a group of 6 of us, including our translator, who are taking the journey together. Jenny, our translator, and I met at a subway stop in Beijing and then met a driver to take us to the airport. At the airport, we met my parents, Sam, and Wendall. Together, we all headed to a hotel near Tiananmen Square—apparently the oldest hotel in Beijing—and shared dinner together. It was really nice to get to meet everyone.
Though we haven’t had much time to catch up, so far, it’s been so wonderful to just be with my parents again. It’s amazing to me how quickly we’ve fallen back into our rhythm. It’s almost as if I never left. Of course, there are some differences because we haven’t seen each other in so long, but for the most part just being with them feels like home.
Today started rather early as we headed to breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, the group headed back to the airport to catch our flight to Harbin. Harbin is in the northern part of China—the province borders Russia. The flight was about two hours, during which Mom and I dosed while Dad read a book. When we landed, we came to find out that Dad’s checked bag was still in Beijing. Oops! Once we dealt with the baggage situation, we met up with Pastor Sun and hopped in a van for the long drive out to the seminary. We’re staying at the seminary tonight and tomorrow we will give “encouragement” to the 4 year students. Then we’ll head back into Harbin before heading out to other rural ch—ches to distribute Bi—es.
I’ve been so excited for my parents to come, I now realize that I have not focused enough on this part of the trip with them. I’m not sure that I have done enough to prepare my heart for the work Abba has called me to accomplished. While it’s not wrong for me to have been excited about my parents’ arrival, I failed to realize just how important the work we are going to do is. As such, I was hoping that I could ask you all for a favor. Could you please take a moment to p—y for our trip? Ask Abba to set our hearts and minds in the correct attitude to serve Him. P—y that he speak through us and allow us to do His work wherever we go. Ask Him to be with the people we are going to meet and the people to whom they will then min—ster. P—y for safety and for His work to be done.
Thank you all! I promise I’ll share more of our journey soon.
Goodnight,
Kristen
